Advance 250

What is Advance 250?

Research has consistently shown that a woman’s experience of the workplace is different to a man’s, especially in traditionally male-oriented environments, such as the STEM industries.

Our unique programme of group coaching, specifically for women, enables them to:

  • appreciate and achieve their potential more quickly
  • raise awareness of what might be holding them back
  • have clarity and confidence about being successful
  • establish positive coaching habits for ongoing success

The coaching is conducted in groups of a maximum of six women. Delegates discuss how the topics (listed below) impact on their work and career.

Plus each meeting includes a ‘spotlighting’ session: one delegate brings a live issue and the rest of the group uses a structured coaching methodology to help them to move forward with it.

The Programme at a Glance

The programme is divided into six two-hour sessions which cover:

  • Group ‘contracting’ (deciding the ground rules), introduction to coaching and spotlighting
  • Impostor phenomenon and how it is perpetuated by socialisation and attribution patterns
  • Prove-It-Again! patterns – reviewing research that women must continuously prove themselves throughout their careers (where men often do not)
  • The Tightrope – walking the narrow path between the stereotypes of ‘bossy’ and ‘over-emotional’
  • Maternal Wall – the difficulties women experience when they become mothers (or indeed choose not to)
  • Tug of War – the sad finding that gender bias against women often fuels conflict between women

“Something very empowering being with a group of like-minded women. Having some background knowledge around the psychology of why men and women are viewed differently at work has been fascinating and very powerful. Thank you to Julia J.”
(KW, HR Manager)

“It was such a wonderful, rare environment to sit and talk amongst like-minded, driven, passionate women about what makes us great.  We never get to talk about and recognise our own successes.”
(SP, Service Manager)
